STAR TOOL Volcano Radius Nail Drill Bit
The STAR TOOL Volcano Radius Drill Bit features a rounded-top, tapered barrel design created for smooth shaping, contouring, debulking, and product removal. Unlike a traditional flat-top barrel, the rounded radius top provides a softer working edge, making it easier to transition around curved areas of the enhancement while maintaining control.
The wider lower body efficiently removes and shapes product, while the narrower rounded top provides greater precision for detailed refinement.
Available in Fine, Medium, Coarse, and X-Coarse.
Available Grits & Recommended Uses
Fine (Silver Band)
Best for smoothing, refining, and finishing.
- Smooths acrylic and dip powder after shaping
- Refines bumps, ridges, and uneven surfaces
- Lightly shapes hard gel
- Blends product during fill services
- Refines sidewalls and curved areas
- Smooths the enhancement before buffing or gel polish
- Great for detailed finishing with minimal product removal
Medium (Yellow Band)
A versatile everyday grit for shaping and refinement.
- Shapes acrylic, hard gel, and dip powder
- Smooths and levels enhancement surfaces
- Removes gel polish from enhancements
- Reduces moderate product thickness
- Blends new and existing product during fills
- Refines the apex, sidewalls, and overall nail contour
- Great for fills, rebalances, and everyday maintenance
Coarse (Blue Band)
Designed for faster shaping and product reduction.
- Quickly debulks acrylic
- Reduces hard gel efficiently
- Removes thick dip powder
- Removes gel polish from enhancements
- Shortens and reshapes artificial nails
- Corrects bulky or uneven enhancements
- Great for reducing old product during fills
X-Coarse (Red Band)
The most aggressive option for fast, heavy product removal.
- Rapidly removes bulk acrylic
- Quickly reduces thick hard gel
- Debulks heavy dip powder enhancements
- Removes large amounts of old enhancement product
- Great for shortening and major reshaping
- Ideal for heavy fill and removal services
- Best followed with Medium or Fine for smoothing
Why Choose the Volcano Radius Shape?
Rounded Radius Top
The smooth, rounded top eliminates the sharp corner found on traditional flat-top barrel bits. This provides a more forgiving working edge when transitioning around curved areas of the enhancement.
Tapered Barrel Design
The narrower top allows for more detailed work, while the wider base provides greater surface contact for efficient shaping and debulking.
Excellent for Contouring
The rounded profile follows the curves of the enhancement, making it especially useful for refining the apex, sidewalls, and overall nail shape.
Efficient Product Removal
The larger working surface makes it easy to reduce bulk across acrylic, hard gel, and dip powder while the radius top provides additional control.
Volcano vs. Volcano Radius
Volcano = More pointed/defined tapered shape for precision shaping and detailed product work.
Volcano Radius = Rounded top for smoother transitions, contouring, and a more forgiving working edge.
Quick Grit Guide
Fine = Smooth & Finish
Medium = Shape & Refine
Coarse = Debulk & Remove
X-Coarse = Heavy & Fast Removal
Recommended Uses: Acrylic • Hard Gel • Dip Powder • Gel Polish Removal • Contouring • Apex Refinement • Sidewall Shaping • Smoothing • Debulking • Reshaping • Fill & Rebalance Services • Product Removal
For professional use only. Coarse and X-Coarse grits are intended primarily for artificial enhancement products and should not be used directly on the natural nail or skin.
